Balloon heart


Materials: two balloons; an air pump and scissors.

We are going to use two balloons of different colors to make this sculpture. I will use the blue balloon to make the inner part and the pink balloon for the outer part of the heart. Inflate both balloons leaving a nine—inch flat tail (Pic 1).

We are going to twist all bubbles of the same size, no more than one inch. Tie knots of both balloons together (Pic 2).

Twist the first pink bubble (Pic 3).

Twist the second pink bubble (Pic 4).

Twist the third pink bubble (Pic 5).

Twist the first blue bubble (Pic 6).

Lock the free end of the 3rd pink (the point B on the scheme 1) bubble with the free end of the first blue (the point B on the scheme 2) bubble (Pic 7).

Twist the 4th pink bubble (Pic 8).

Twist the fifth pink bubble (Pic 9).

Twist the second blue bubble (Pic 10).

Twist the third blue bubble (Pic 11).

Lock the free end of the fifth pink (the point C on the scheme 1) bubble with the free end of the third blue (the point C on the scheme 2) bubble (Pic 12).

Twist the sixth pink bubble (Pic 13).

Twist the seventh pink bubble (Pic 14).

Twist the fourth blue bubble (Pic 15).

Lock the free end of the seventh pink (the point D on the scheme 1) bubble with the free end of the fourth blue (the point D on the scheme 2) bubble (Pic 16).

Twist the eighth pink bubble (Pic 17).

Twist the ninth pink bubble (Pic 18).

Twist the fifth blue bubble (Pic 19).

Lock the free end of the ninth pink (the point E on the scheme 1) bubble with the free end of the fifth blue (the point E on the scheme 2) bubble (Pic 20).

Twist the tenth pink bubble (Pic 21).

Twist the eleventh pink bubble (Pic 22).

Twist the sixth blue bubble (Pic 23).

Lock the free end of the eleventh pink (the point F on the scheme 1) bubble with the free end of the sixth blue (the point F on the scheme 2) bubble (Pic 24).

Twist the seventh blue bubble (Pic 25).

Twist the eighth blue bubble (Pic 26).

Twist the ninth blue bubble (Pic 27).

Twist the twelfth pink bubble (Pic 28).

Lock the free end of the twelfth pink (the point G on the scheme 1) bubble with the free end of the ninth blue (the point G on the scheme 2) bubble (Pic 29).

Twist the thirteenth pink bubble (Pic 30).

Twist the fourteenth pink bubble (Pic 31).

Twist the tenth blue bubble (Pic 32).

Lock the free end of the fourteenth pink (the point H on the scheme 1) bubble with the free end of the tenth blue (the point H on the scheme 2) bubble (Pic 33).

Twist the fifteenth pink bubble (Pic 34).

Twist the sixteenth pink bubble (Pic 35).

Twist the eleventh blue bubble (Pic 36).

Lock the free end of the sixteenth pink (the point I on the scheme 1) bubble with the free end of the eleventh blue (the point I on the scheme 2) bubble (Pic 37).

Twist the seventeenth pink bubble (Pic 38).

Twist the eighteenth pink bubble (Pic 39).

Twist the twelfth blue bubble (Pic 40).

Lock the free end of the eighteenth pink (the point J on the scheme 1) bubble with the free end of the twelfth blue (the point I on the scheme 2) bubble. Twist the nineteenth pink bubble (Pic 41).

Twist the twentieth pink bubble (Pic 42).

Twist the thirteenth blue bubble (Pic 43).

Twist the fourteenth blue bubble (Pic 44).

Lock the free end of the twentieth pink (the point K on the scheme 1) bubble with the free end of the fourteenth blue (the point K on the scheme 2) bubble (Pic 45).

Lock both ends of the chain of twenty pink (or chain of fourteenth blue bubbles) in one lock twist (Pic 46). This step is marked with arrows between points A and K on the scheme 1 or 2.

The rest of the pink balloon is the twenty-first bubble. The rest of the blue balloon is the fifteenth bubble (Pic 47). You may cut off the twenty-first pink and the fifteenth blue bubble.

Or you may use the extra bubbles to make a bracelet (Pic 48 through 51). Congratulations, you have made the heart. Have fun and happy twisting :)
