Supplies: balloons, an air pump, scissors and plastic straw.
Inflate a balloon leaving about 6-8 cm flat tail.

We are going to make 5 pairs (total of 10 bubbles) bubbles.
Twist all bubbles of about the same 8-10 cm size.

Twist the first two bubbles.

Lock both ends of the chain of the first two bubbles in one lock twist.
Twist the next two bubbles.

Lock both ends of the chain of the last two bubbles in one lock twist.
Twist the next two bubble.

Lock both ends of the chain of the last two bubbles in one lock twist.
Twist the next two bubble.

Lock both ends of the chain of the last two bubbles in one lock twist.
Twist the next two bubble.

Lock both ends of the chain of the last two bubbles in one lock twist.
I don't have any flat tail left and the rest of the balloon is about 3 cm long.
It makes a perfect center of the flower.
Congratulations! We have made a five petals flower or five pointed star.

In the following example, I don't have any flat tail left and the rest of the balloon is about 7-9 cm.

Here is the front side view.

Split the rest of the balloon on two bubbles.
Move the last bubble on the other side of the sculpture locking the free end of the last bubble at the center between bubbles of the sculpture.
Both ends of the previous bubble gets lock in one lock twist as well.
Congratulations! We have made double-sided flower (or star) with center bubble on each side.
Both side of the sculpture looks the same.

In the following example, I have about 3 cm bubble left at the end of the balloon with small flat tail.
The flat tail could be of any size.

Pinch the free end of the flat end by the last bubble.

Lock both ends of the last bubble in one lock twist.
Congratulations! We have made another five petals flower (or star).
Here is the front view.

Here is the back view.

We can waive (or braid) bubbles of each pair around each other.
Work one pair of bubbles at a time waiving (braiding) them in the same direction.

Here is the back view.

This is the front view.

We can make flowers (or stars) of any color.

We can lock ends of flat balloon at the center of the back side of the sculpture to make a bracelet.

Here is an example of the flower bracelet.

We can use a plastic straw to make a stem for flower.

Force one end of the plastic straw between two pairs of bubbles.

Here is an example of flower on the stem.

In the following example I am going to make a flower (star or snowflake) hat.
Inflate a balloon leaving about 3-10 cm flat tail.

Wrap the balloon around head to measure the size of the first bubble.

Twist the first bubble.

Lock both ends of the first bubble in one lock twist.
We have made the base of the hat.

Twist the next about 3 cm bubble.

Lock both ends of the last bubble in one lock twist.

Twist the next about 15-20 cm bubble.
Twist the next about 3 cm bubble.

Lock both ends of the last bubble in one lock twist.

You can make the rest of the balloon shorter if it is too long.
Lock the end of the rest of the balloon at the center on the back side of the flower.
Cut off the rest of the balloon.

Here is the back view of the sculpture.

Here is the front view of the sculpture.

Congratulations! We have made flower hat or snowflake hat or star hat of balloons.

Have fun and happy twisting :)

    1. You were a lucky as a child to have those balloons to play with. My first balloon twisting medium was sausages. Actually, not the sausages, but leftover of guts my mom and neighbors used to stuff to make sausages. Stinky thing - but we got the fun :)
