Materials: a balloon; an air pump and a permanent marker.

Inflate a balloon leaving one—inch flat tail (Pic 1).

The size of the first bubble is the size of the hat.  Loop the balloon around of your head to measure the size of the first bubble. At this point we twist the first bubble (Pic 2).

Lock both ends of the first bubble in one lock twist (Pic 3). This step is marked with arrows between points A and B on the scheme.

The next two bubbles we twist to make the eyes. Twist the second one—inch bubble (Pic 4).

Twist the third one—inch bubble (Pic 5).

Lock both ends of the chain of the last two (the second and the third) bubbles in one lock twist (Pic 6). This step is marked with arrows between points B and C on the scheme.

The next two bubbles we twist to make the ears. Twist the fourth soft five—inch bubble (Pic 7).

Twist the fifth soft five—inch bubble (Pic 8).

Lock both ends of the chain of the last two (the fourth and the fifth) bubbles in one lock twist (Pic 9). This step is marked with arrows between points C and E on the scheme.

Lock both ends of the fourth (the fifth) bubble in one lock twist (Pic 10). This step is marked with arrows between points C and D on the scheme. The rest of the balloon is the sixth bubble. It’s the trunk.

Use a permanent marker to draw eyes (Pic 11).

Shape the trunk the way you like it (Pic 12).

Congratulations, you have made the hat (Pic 13 through 15). Have fun and happy twisting :)

    1. You also remind me about my unfinished work. There are different ways to make elephant hats using two and more balloons. I am going to publish those instructions once I am over with Russian translations :)
      Many thanks for your comment.
Have fun and happy twisting :)
