Balloon ball

CC0
We are going to use a pentagon shape pattern for this sculpture. We use three balloons to make this ball. We twist each balloon to make four connected pentagons: it makes one diamond. Be aware of the tricky simplicity of the pattern: it could be a very confusing job to make this sculpture using only one color balloons. We are going to twist all (sixty) bubbles of the same up to one—inch size. This instruction was created as continues for the “Ball 2, Helmet” and Ball 3, heart 5, helmet 2” instructions. Inflate all three balloons leaving about eight—inch flat tail (Pic 1).

Twist the first bubble (Pic 2).

Twist the chain of six (the first through the sixth) bubbles (Pic 3).

Lock both ends of the chain of the last five (the second through the sixth) bubbles in one lock twist (Pic 4). We made the first pentagon.

Twist the chain of four (the seventh through the tenth) bubbles (Pic 5).

Lock both ends of the chain of ten (the first through the tenth) bubbles in one lock twist (Pic 6). We made the second pentagon.

Twist the eleventh bubble (Pic 7).

Lock the free end of the eleventh bubble between the fifth and the sixth bubbles (Pic 8). You have to pull the end of the balloon through the loop of the first pentagon.

Twist the chain of four (the twelfth through the fifteenth) bubbles (Pic 9).

Lock the free end of the fifteenth bubble between the ninth and the tenth bubbles (Pic 10). You have to pull the end of the balloon through the loop of the second pentagon.

Twist the chain of four (the sixteenth through the nineteenth) bubbles (Pic 11).

Lock the free end of the nineteenth bubble between the fourteenth and the fifteenth bubbles (Pic 12). You have to pull the end of the balloon through the loop of six (the tenth through the fifteenth) bubbles.

Twist the twentieth bubble (Pic 13).

Lock both ends of the chain of the first twenty (the first through the twentieth) bubbles in one lock twist (Pic 14). We made the fourth pentagon and the gray diamond. The rest of the balloon is the 21st bubble.

Cut of the rest off the balloon and tie off the end. Or you can just hide the 21st bubble behind the other bubbles (Pic 15). We can connect bubbles in different ways to make the same shape. I just like to lock both ends of the balloon in the center of the diamond. We are going to make and connect two more diamonds.

Twist the first and the second pink bubbles (Pic 16). There is a chain of four bubbles on the top and the bottom of the diamond. There is a chain of three bubbles on the left and the right sides of the gray diamond. We are going to attach the pink balloon to the bottom of the gray diamond. Then we twist pink diamond attaching it to the right side of the gray diamond.

Lock the free end of the second pink bubble between the third and the fourth gray bubbles (Pic 17).

Twist the chain of four (the third through the sixth) pink bubbles (Pic 18).

Lock both ends of the chain of the last five (the second through the sixth) pink bubbles in one lock twist (Pic 19). We made the first pink pentagon.

Twist the seventh pink bubble (Pic 20).

Lock the free end of the seventh pink bubble between the fourth and the fifth gray bubbles (Pic 21).

Twist the eighth pink bubble (Pic 22).

Lock the free end of the eighth pink bubble between the twelfth and the thirteenth gray bubbles (Pic 23).

Twist the chain of two (the ninth and the tenth) pink bubbles (Pic 24).

Lock both ends of the chain of first ten (the first through the tenth) pink bubbles in one lock twist (Pic 25). We made the second pink pentagon.

Twist the eleventh pink bubble (Pic 26).

Lock the free end of the eleventh pink bubble between the fifth and the sixth pink bubbles (Pic 27). You have to pull the end of the pink balloon through the loop of the first pink pentagon.

Twist the chain of the four (the twelfth through the fifteenth) pink bubbles (Pic 28).

Lock the free end of the fifteenth pink bubble between the ninth and the tenth pink bubbles (Pic 29).

Twist the sixteenth pink bubble (Pic 30).

Lock the free end of the sixteenth pink bubble between the thirteenth and the fourteenth gray bubbles (Pic 31). You have to pull the end of the pink balloon through the loop of five (the eleventh through the fourteenth and the twentieth) gray bubbles.

Twist the seventeenth pink bubble (Pic 32).

Lock the free end of the seventeenth pink bubble between the eighteenth and the nineteenth gray bubbles (Pic 33). You have to pull the end of the pink balloon through the loop of the five (the fifteenth through the nineteenth) gray bubbles.

Twist the chain of two (the eighteenth and the nineteenth) pink bubbles (Pic 34).

Lock the free end of the nineteenth pink bubble between the fourteenth and the fifteenth pink bubbles (Pic 35). You have to pull the end of the pink balloon through the loop of six (the tenth through the fifteenth) pink bubbles. We made the third pink pentagon.

Twist the twentieth pink bubble (Pic 36).

Lock both ends of the chain of the first twenty (the first through the twentieth) pink bubbles in one lock twist (Pic 37). We made the fourth pink pentagon and the pink diamond.

Cut off the rest of the pink balloon and tie off the end (Pic 38 and 39).

Twist the chain of two (the first and the second) blue bubbles (Pic 40). We are going to twist the third (blue) diamond and connect it with the first (gray) and the second (pink) diamonds.

Lock the free end of the second blue bubble between the third and the fourth pink bubbles (Pic 41).

Twist the third blue bubble (Pic 42).

Lock the free end of the third blue bubble between the 2nd and the 3rd gray bubbles (Pic 43).

Twist the fourth blue bubble (Pic 44).

Lock the free end of the fourth blue bubble between the seventh and the eighth gray bubbles (Pic 45).

Twist the chain of two (the fifth and the sixth) blue bubbles (Pic 46).

Lock both ends of the chain of the last five (the second through the sixth) blue bubbles in one lock twist (Pic 47). We made the first blue pentagon.

Twist the 7th blue bubble (Pic 48).

Lock the free end of the seventh blue bubble between the fourth and the fifth pink bubbles (Pic 49).

Twist the eighth blue bubble (Pic 50).

Lock the free end of the eighth blue bubble between the twelfth and the thirteenth pink bubbles (Pic 51).

Twist the chain of two (the ninth and the tenth) blue bubbles (Pic 52).

Lock both ends of the chain of first ten (the first through the tenth) blue bubbles in one lock twist (Pic 53). We made the second blue pentagon.

Twist the chain of two (the 14th and the 15th) blue bubbles (Pic 60).

Lock the free end of the fifteenth blue bubble between the ninth and the tenth blue bubbles (Pic 61).

Twist the sixteenth blue bubble (Pic 62).

Lock free end of the sixteenth blue bubble between the thirteenth and the fourteenth pink bubbles (Pic 63).

Twist the seventeenth blue bubble (Pic 64).

Lock the free end of the seventeenth blue bubble between the eighteenth and the nineteenth pink bubbles (Pic 65).

Twist the eighteenth blue bubble (Pic 66). You can use the ball as a hidden place for some gift and etc. You can place it inside of the ball now.

Lock the free end of the eighteenth blue bubble between the seventeenth and the eighteenth gray bubbles (Pic 67).

Twist the nineteenth blue bubble (Pic 68).

Lock the free end of the nineteenth blue bubble between the fourteenth and the fifteenth blue bubbles. We made the third blue pentagon. Twist the twentieth blue bubble (Pic 69).

Lock both ends of the chain of the first twenty (the first through the twentieth) blue bubbles in one lock twist (Pic 70). We made the fourth blue pentagon and the blue diamond. Cut off the rest of the blue balloon and tie off the end.

Congratulations, we have made the ball (Pic 71 through 73). It is fun to play this toy indoors. Have fun and happy twisting :)
