Balloon monkey


Materials: a balloon; an air pump; scissors and a permanent marker.

Inflate a balloon leaving a six—inch flat tail (Pic 1).

Twist the first soft one—inch bubble (Pic 2).

Twist the 2nd soft two—inch bubble (Pic 3).

Twist the third soft one—inch bubble (Pic 4).

Lock both ends of the first bubble in one lock twist (Pic 5). This step is marked with arrows between points A and B on the scheme.

Lock both ends of the third bubble in one lock twist (Pic 6). This step is marked with arrows between 
points C and D on the scheme. You have made two ears.

Lock both ends of the second bubble in one lock twist (Pic 7). This step is marked with arrows between points B and C on the scheme. It’s the head.

Twist the fourth soft three—inch bubble (Pic 8).

Lock both ends of the fourth bubble in one lock twist (Pic 9). This step is marked with arrows between points D and E on the scheme. It’s the muzzle.

Twist the fifth one—inch bubble (Pic 10). It’s the neck.

The next five bubbles you twist to make the arms of the monkey. You make the arms using the pop up twist. To make the pop up twist means to pop one of the bubbles. You should make the ear twist before and the ear twist after the bubble you are going to pop. Use the pop up twist to separate the arms/legs. Twist the sixth three—inch bubble (Pic 11).

Twist the seventh soft one—inch bubble (Pic 12).

Twist the eighth one—inch bubble (Pic 13). It’s the pop up bubble. You are going to pop up this bubble.

Twist the ninth soft one—inch bubble (Pic 14).

Twist the tenth three—inch bubble (Pic 15).

Lock both ends of the chain of the last five (the sixth through the tenth) bubbles in one lock twist (Pic 16). This step is marked with arrows between points F and K on the scheme.

Twist the eleventh two—inch bubble (Pic 17). It’s the body.

The next three bubbles you twist to make the legs. Twist the twelfth three—inch bubble (Pic 18).

Twist the thirteenth one—inch bubble (Pic 19).

Twist the fourteenth three—inch bubble. The rest of the balloon is the fifteenth bubble (Pic 20).

Lock both ends of the chain of the last three (the twelfth through the fourteenth) bubbles in one lock twist (Pic 21). This step is marked with arrows between points L and M on the scheme.

Lock both ends of the seventh bubble in one lock twist. This step is marked with arrows between points G and H on the scheme. Lock both ends of the ninth bubble in one lock twist (Pic 22). This step is marked with arrows between points J and I on the scheme.

You have to pop up the eighth bubble to complete the pop up twist. Split the arms of the monkey with your fingers and cut the eighth bubble with scissors (Pic 23).

You have made the pop up twist (Pic 24).

Use the permanent marker to draw the face (Pic 25 and 26). Congratulations, you have made the monkey.
