Balloon Dora the Explorer


Materials: three balloons; an air pump; a permanent marker and scissors.

Use a black balloon to make the hair. Inflate a black balloon leaving a two—inch flat tail (Pic 1).

Twist the first seven—inch bubble (Pic 2).

Twist the second soft one—inch bubble (Pic 3).

Lock both ends of the second bubble in one lock twist (Pic 4). This step is marked with arrows between points A and B on the scheme 1.

Twist the third five—inch bubble (Pic 5).

Twist the fourth soft one—inch bubble (Pic 6).

Lock both ends of the fourth bubble in one lock twist (Pic 7). This step is marked with arrows between points C and D on the scheme 1.

Twist the fifth five—inch bubble (Pic 8).

Lock both ends of the chain of the last four (the second through the fifth) bubbles in one lock twist (Pic 9). This step is marked with arrows between points B and E on the scheme 1.

Twist the sixth five—inch bubble (Pic 10).

Lock the free end of the sixth bubble around the fourth bubble (Pic 11). This step is marked with arrows between points D and F on the scheme 1. The rest of the balloon is the seventh bubble. Make sure the first and last bubbles are of the same size.

Use a gold, pink or light brown balloon to make the face. Inflate the balloon leaving a four—inch flat tail (Pic 12).

Lock the nozzle (Point A on the scheme 2) of the gold balloon around the second bubble of the black balloon (Pic 13).

The next three bubbles you twist to make the head. Twist the first six—inch bubble (Pic 14).

Lock the free end of the first bubble of the gold balloon (Point B on the scheme 2) around the fourth bubble of the black balloon (Pic 15).

Twist the second six—inch bubble (Pic 16).

Lock the free end of the second bubble (Point C on the scheme 2) around the second bubble of the black balloon (Pic 17).

Twist the third six—inch bubble (Pic 18).

Lock the free end of the third bubble (Point D on the scheme 2) around the fourth bubble of the black balloon (Pic 19).

Cut off the rest of the gold balloon and tie off the end (Pic 20).

You have made the head (Pic 21 and 22).


Use the permanent marker to draw the face of the doll (Pic 23).

You may attach the head to the body 5 with a neck (Pic 24).

Force the neck bubble between two bottom bubbles of the head (Pic 25 and 26).


Congratulation, you have made Dora the Explorer doll (Pic 27 through 29). Have fun and happy twisting :)
