There are different ways to make Teddy bear balloon sculptures. In this instruction we are going to make Teddy bear out of one balloon. Inflate a balloon leaving about 11 - 13 cm flat tail (Pic 1).

Twist the first about 7 cm bubble. Twist the second about 3 - 4 cm bubble. Twist the third about 5 cm bubble. Twist the fourth about 2 - 3 cm bubble. Twist the fifth about 4 - 5 cm bubble. Twist the sixth (the same as the fourth) about 2 - 3 cm bubble. Twist the seventh (the same as the third) about 5 cm bubble (Pic 2).

Lock both ends of the chain of the last five (the third through the seventh) bubbles in one lock twist (Pic 3).

Force the first bubble half way through the loop of the last five bubbles (Pic 4 through 6).

Lock both ends of the fourth bubble. Make sure the first bubble is inside of the loop of the last five bubbles! Lock both ends of the sixth bubble (Pic 7). We have made the head.

Twist the eighth about 7 - 9 cm bubble. It is the belly. Squeeze the balloon to make it soft. Twist the ninth and the tenth about 9 - 12 cm bubbles. The rest of the balloon should be about three length of the eight bubble (Pic 8).

Lock both ends of the chain of the last two (the ninth and the tenth) bubbles in one lock twist (Pic 9). We have made the legs. You can keep the legs as it is.

Or we can lock all ends of the last two (the ninth and the tenth) bubbles in one lock twist (Pic 10).

Make the eleventh about 7 - 9 cm bubble. It is the back bubble (Pic 11). It should be of about the same size as the eighth (the belly) bubble.

Lock both ends of the chain of the last four (the eighth through eleventh) bubbles in one lock twist (Pic 12 - 13).

Split the rest of the balloon on two bubbles of the same size. In this example I twist the twelfth soft about 7 cm bubble (Pic 14).

Lock the free end of the twelfth bubble between bubbles of the legs. Twist the thirteenth soft about 8 cm bubble. It should be of the same size as the twelfth bubble.(Pic 15).

Lock the free end of the thirteenth bubble between the body and the head bubbles (Pic 16 through 18). Cut of the rest of the balloon and tie off the end. Congratulations! We have made one balloon Teddy bear.

We can use a permanent marker to draw the face of the Teddy bear (Pic 19 through 21). Have fun and happy twisting :)

  1. Beautiful clear instructions for a 1-balloon teddy bear -- just what I was looking for! I like the kind with the arms at his sides like you have here also. Very nice!
