Big yellow balloon bird


Materials: four balloons; an air pump; a permanent marker and scissors.

Inflate a balloon leaving a four—inch flat tail (Pic 1).

Twist the first four—inch bubble. It’s the beak (Pic 2).

The next ten bubbles you twist and lock to form a five points star. Twist the second two—inch bubble (Pic 3).

Twist the third four—inch bubble (Pic 4).

Lock both ends of the chain of the last two (the second and the third) bubbles in one lock twist (Pic 5). This step is marked with arrows between points A and B on the scheme.

Twist the fourth two—inch bubble (Pic 6).

Twist the fifth four—inch bubble (Pic 7).

Lock both ends of the chain of the last two (the fourth and the fifth) bubbles in one lock twist (Pic 8). This step is marked with arrows between points B and C on the scheme.

Twist the sixth two—inch bubble (Pic 9).

Twist the seventh four—inch bubble (Pic 10).

Lock both ends of the chain of the last two (the sixth and the seventh) bubbles in one lock twist (Pic 11). This step is marked with arrows between points C and D on the scheme.

Twist the eighth two—inch bubble (Pic 12).

Twist the ninth four—inch bubble (Pic 13).

Lock both ends of the chain of the last two (the eighth and the ninth) bubbles in one lock twist (Pic 14). This step is marked with arrows between points D and E on the scheme.

Twist the tenth two—inch bubble (Pic 15).

Twist the eleventh four—inch bubble (Pic 16).

Lock both ends of the chain of the last two (the tenth and the eleventh) bubbles in one lock twist (Pic 17). This step is marked with arrows between points E and F on the scheme. 

The rest of the balloon is the twelfth bubble. Arrange each pair of the two and four—inch bubbles to form the five points star (Pic 18 and 19). Place the first bubble on the front side that is made by five four—inch bubbles. If the twelfth bubble is less then one—inch place it on the backside that is made by five two—inch bubbles. Otherwise place it on the front side. It makes the bottom part of the beak. 


Use a different color balloon to make the eyes. Inflate and tie off one soft three—inch bubble (Pic 20). Cut off the rest of the balloon.

Split this bubble on two bubbles of the same size (Pic 21).

Attach the two bubbles (eyes) to the base of the beak (Pic 22).

Use the permanent marker to draw the eyes (Pic 23 and 24).


You may attach the head of the big bird to the body 2 (Pic 25 through 28) or to any hat. Congratulations, you have made the big bird. Have fun and happy twisting :)
