Balloon car


Materials: three balloons; an air pump; a permanent marker and scissors.

We are going to use two balloons to make the body of the car and one balloon to make four wheels. First we are going to make the front part of the car. Inflate a balloon leaving a five—inch flat tail (Pic 1).

Twist the first one—inch bubble (Pic 2).

Twist the second soft one—inch bubble (Pic 3).

Lock both ends of the second bubble in one lock twist (Pic 4). This step is marked with arrows between points B and C on the scheme 1.

Twist the third three—inch bubble (Pic 5).

Twist the fourth soft one—inch bubble (Pic 6).

Lock both ends of the fourth bubble in one lock twist (Pic 7). This step is marked with arrows between points D and E on the scheme 1.

Twist the fifth one—inch bubble (Pic 8).

Twist the sixth soft one—inch bubble (Pic 9).

Lock both ends of the 6th bubble in one lock twist (Pic 10). This step is marked with arrows between points F and G on the scheme 1. Later you are going to attach a wheel to the sixth bubble.

Twist the 7th three—inch bubble (Pic 11).

Twist the eighth soft one—inch bubble (Pic 12).

Lock both ends of the eighth bubble in one lock twist (Pic 13). This step is marked with arrows between points H and I on the scheme 1. Later we are going to attach a wheel to the eighth bubble. 


Lock both ends of the chain of the first eight (the first through the eighth) bubbles in one lock twist (Pic 14). This step is marked with arrows between points A and I on the scheme 1.

Twist the ninth four—inch bubble (Pic 15).

Twist the tenth three—inch bubble (Pic 16).

Twist the eleventh four—inch bubble (Pic 17).

Lock both ends of the six (the sixth through the eleventh) bubbles in one lock twist (Pic 18). This step is marked with arrows between points F and L on the scheme 1.

Twist the twelfth three—inch bubble (Pic 19).

Lock both ends of the last four (the ninth through the twelfth) bubbles in one lock twist (Pic 20 and 21). This step is marked with arrows between points M and I on the scheme 1. The rest of the balloon is the thirteenth bubble. The thirteenth bubble should be at least four—inch long. You have made the front part of the car.


Inflate the second balloon leaving a five—inch flat tail to make the rear part of the car (Pic 22).

Twist the first three—inch bubble (Pic 23).

Twist the 2nd soft one—inch bubble (Pic 24).

Lock both ends of the second bubble in one lock twit (Pic 25). This step is marked with arrows between points B and C on the scheme 2. Later you are going to attach a wheel to the second bubble.

Twist the third three—inch bubble (Pic 26).

Twist the 4th soft one—inch bubble (Pic 27).

Lock both ends of the 4th bubble in one lock twist (Pic 28). This step is marked with arrows between
 points D and E on the scheme 2. Later you are going to attach a wheel to the second bubble.

Lock both ends of the chain of the first four (the first through the fourth) bubbles in one lock twist (Pic 29). This step is marked with arrows between points A and E on the scheme 2.

Twist the fifth three—inch bubble (Pic 30).

Lock both ends of the chain of the last four (the second through the fifth) bubbles in one lock twist (Pic 31). This step is marked with arrows between points B and F on the scheme 2.

Twist the six five—inch bubble (Pic 32).

Twist the seventh soft one—inch bubble (Pic 33).

Lock both ends of the seventh bubble in one lock twist (Pic 34). This step is marked with arrows between points G and H on the scheme 2.

Twist the eighth three—inch bubble (Pic 35).

Twist the 9th soft one—inch bubble (Pic 36).

Lock both ends of the ninth bubble in one lock twist (Pic 37). This step is marked with arrows between points I and J on the scheme 2.

Twist the tenth five—inch bubble (Pic 38).

Lock both ends of the chain of the last six (the fourth through the tenth) bubbles in one lock twist (Pic 39). This step is marked with arrows between points K and E on the scheme 2. The rest of the balloon is the eleventh bubble. The eleventh bubble should be at least four—inch. You have made the rear part of the car.

Now we have to put together both parts of the car (Pic 40).

You have to make the last bubbles of both balloons of the same size! Lock the end of the thirteenth bubble the first balloon around the second bubble of the second balloon (Pic 41 and 42).


Twist the eleventh bubble of the second balloon of the same size as the last (the thirteenth) bubble of the first balloon (Pic 43). The rest of the second balloon is the twelfth bubble.

Lock the free end of the eleventh bubble of the second balloon around the sixth bubble of the first balloon (Pic 44).

Cut off the twelfth bubble of the second balloon (Pic 45).

Now you have to assemble the roof of the car (Pic 46).

Lock one end of the tenth bubble of the first balloon around the seventh bubble of the second balloon (Pic 47).

Lock the other end of the tenth bubble of the first balloon around of he ninth bubble of the second balloon (Pic 48).

You have made the car (Pic 49 through 52).




Use a dark color balloon to make four wheels. Inflate a blue balloon leaving an eight—inch flat tail (Pic 53).

Twist the first soft five—inch bubble (Pic 54).

Tie both ends of the first bubble in a knot (Pic 55).

Cut off the rest of the balloon and tie off the ends of the first bubble (Pic 56). Make all four wheels in the same way.

Attach the wheels to the second and the fourth bubbles of the second balloon and the sixth and the eighth bubbles of the first balloon (Pic 57 through 60).




Use the permanent marker to draw the face of the car (Pic 61 through 63). Congratulations, you have made the most gas efficient car on the Earth yet! It runs on your breath. Attention to all drivers: DRIVING THIS CAR ON ANY DRIVEWAY IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED! Please consult with your parents for detailed rules and regulations.
