We are going to make 5 pairs (total of 10 bubbles) bubbles.
Twist all bubbles of about the same 8-10 cm size.
Twist the first two bubbles.
Lock both ends of the chain of the first two bubbles in one lock twist.
Twist the next two bubbles.
Lock both ends of the chain of the last two bubbles in one lock twist.
Twist the next two bubble.
Lock both ends of the chain of the last two bubbles in one lock twist.
Twist the next two bubble.
Lock both ends of the chain of the last two bubbles in one lock twist.
Twist the next two bubble.
Lock both ends of the chain of the last two bubbles in one lock twist.
I don't have any flat tail left and the rest of the balloon is about 3 cm long.

In the following example, I have about 3 cm bubble left at the end of the balloon with small flat tail.

We can waive (or braid) bubbles of each pair around each other.
Work one pair of bubbles at a time waiving (braiding) them in the same direction.

We can lock ends of flat balloon at the center of the back side of the sculpture to make a bracelet.

We can use a plastic straw to make a stem for flower.
Force one end of the plastic straw between two pairs of bubbles.

In the following example I am going to make a flower (star or snowflake) hat.

Wrap the balloon around head to measure the size of the first bubble.
Twist the first bubble.

You can make the rest of the balloon shorter if it is too long.
Lock the end of the rest of the balloon at the center on the back side of the flower.
Cut off the rest of the balloon.

Haha these are so cute. I remember how i used to make these in my childhood whenever my dad would bring me these long tailed balloons. It was a fun activity.
ReplyDeleteYou were a lucky as a child to have those balloons to play with. My first balloon twisting medium was sausages. Actually, not the sausages, but leftover of guts my mom and neighbors used to stuff to make sausages. Stinky thing - but we got the fun :)
