Inflate a balloon leaving about 12-13 cm flat tail (Pic 1).
Twist the first about 7-8 cm bubble. Twist the second soft about 3 cm bubble. Twist the third soft about 2-3 cm bubble. The second and the third bubbles should be of the same size (Pic 2).
Lock both ends of the chain of the second and the third bubbles in one lock twist (Pic 3). We have made a pair ears. We can keep them as it is.
Or we can lock all ends of the second and the third bubbles in one lock twist (Pic 4 and 5). I like ears made in this way.
Twist the fourth about 8 cm bubble (Pic 6).
Twist the fifth about 3 cm bubble. Lock both ends of the fifth bubble in one lock twist (Pic 7).
Twist the sixth about 8 cm bubble (Pic 8).
Twist the seventh about 20 cm bubble (Pic 9).
Lock both ends of the chain of the last four (the fourth through the seventh) bubbles in one lock twist (Pic 10). We have made one wing.
Make the second wing in the same way. Twist the eighth bubble of the same size as the fourth bubble. Twist and lock the ninth bubble. Twist the tenth bubble of the same size ass the sixth bubble. Twist the eleventh bubble of the same size as the seventh bubble. Lock both ends of the chain of the last four (the eighth through the eleventh) bubbles in one lock twist (Pic 11 - 12). Basically, we already made the bat. We can use the sculpture as it is. Or attach it to different sculptures or hats.
I am going to use the rest of the balloon to make the body, legs and tail. Twist the twelfth about 10 cm bubble (Pic 13). Make sure the rest of the balloon is long enough to make three more small bubbles of the same size!
Twist the thirteenth and the fourteenth soft bubbles about 2-3 cm each. The rest of the balloon is the fifteenth bubble (Pic 14).
Lock both ends of the chain of the thirteenth and the fourteenth bubbles in one lock twist (Pic 15). We have made the legs. You can keep them as it is.
Or you can lock all ends of the thirteenth and the fourteenth bubbles in one lock twist (Pic 16). I like it this way. Congratulations, we have made one balloon bat.
You can lock both ends of the first bubble to make the sculpture look more as a vampire (Pic 19 through 21).
Base on this sculpture you can make many different variations of bats and vampires. We can use any color balloons to make the bat or the vampire. The shape of this sculpture is very recognizable no matter what color balloons you choose (Pic 22 and 23). You can use this sculpture for line work or for Halloween decorations.
