How to make balloon lion


Materials: two balloons; an air pump; a permanent marker and scissors.

Inflate a balloon leaving a five—inch flat tail (Pic 1).

The first three bubbles you twist to make the mouth. Twist the first two—inch bubble (Pic 2).

Twist the second one—inch bubble (Pic 3).

Twist the third two—inch bubble (Pic 4).

Lock both ends of the chain of the first three (the first through the third) bubbles in one lock twist (Pic 5). This step is marked with arrows between points A and B on the scheme 1.

Twist the fourth three—inch bubble (Pic 6).

Twist the fifth one—inch bubble (Pic 7).

Twist the sixth two—inch bubble (Pic 8).

Twist the 7th soft one—inch bubble (Pic 9).

Twist the eighth two—inch bubble (Pic 10).

Twist the ninth soft one—inch bubble (Pic 11).

Twist the tenth two—inch bubble (Pic 12).

Lock both ends of the chain of the last five (the sixth through the tenth) bubbles in one lock twist (Pic 13). This step is marked with arrows between points C and H on the scheme 1.

Push the chain of the first four bubbles through the loop of the last five bubbles (Pic 14 through 16). Fix the fourth bubble half way through the loop.



Lock both ends of the seventh bubble in one lock twist. This step is marked with arrows between points D and E on the scheme 1. Lock both ends of the ninth bubble in one lock twist (Pic 17). This step is marked with arrows between points F and G on the scheme 1.

Twist the eleventh one—inch bubble (Pic 18). It’s the neck.

The next two bubbles you twist to make the front legs. Twist the twelfth two—inch bubble (Pic 19). 

Twist the thirteenth two—inch bubble (Pic 20).

Lock both ends of the chain of the last two (the 12th and the 13th) bubbles in one lock twist (Pic 21). This step is marked with arrows between points J and I on the scheme 1.

Twist the fourteenth two—inch bubble (Pic 22). It’s the body.

The next two bubbles you twist to make the rear legs. Twist the fifteenth two—inch bubble (Pic 23). 

Twist the sixteenth two—inch bubbles (Pic 24).

Lock both ends of the chain of the last two (the fifteenth and the sixteenth) bubbles in one lock twist (Pic 25 through 27). This step is marked with arrows between points K and L on the scheme 1. The rest of the balloon is the seventeenth bubble. It’s the tail.



Inflate the second (brown) balloon leaving an eight—inch flat tail (Pic 28).

Lock the nozzle (point A on the scheme 2) of the brown balloon between the neck (the eleventh) bubble and the head bubbles (Pic 29).

The next three bubbles you twist to make the mane. Twist the first three—inch bubble of the brown balloon (Pic 30).

Lock the free end of the first bubble (point B on the scheme 2) around the ninth bubble of the first balloon (Pic 31).

Twist the 2nd three—inch bubble of the brown balloon (Pic 32).

Lock the free end of the 2nd bubble (point C on the scheme 2) around the seventh bubble of the first balloon (Pic 33).

Twist the third three—inch bubble of the brown balloon (Pic 34).

Lock the free end of the third bubble (point D on the scheme 2) between the head and the neck (Pic 35). The rest of the second balloon is the fourth bubble.

Cut off the fourth bubble of the second balloon and tie off the end (Pic 36).

You have made the mane (Pic 37 through 39).



Use the rest of the second (brown) balloon to make the nose. Inflate and tie off one soft one—inch bubble (Pic 40). Cut off the rest of the balloon and tie off end.

Attach both ends of this bubble between the fourth bubble and the chain of the first three bubbles (Pic 41 and 42).


Use the permanent marker to draw the face (Pic 43 and 44). Congratulations, you have made the lion.
