Today we are going to make a chain. Also, this chain can be used to make a small size Christmas tree. Inflate a (blue) balloon leaving about three-inch flat tail (Pic 1). You have to use green balloons to make the Christmas tree.
The first two bubble we twist only if we want to make the Christmas tree (you don't need them to make a chain). Twist a chain of the first two (the first and the second) soft one-inch bubbles (Pic 2).
Lock all ends of the first two (the first and the second) bubbles in one lock twist (Pic 3).
Twist a chain of the next two (the third and the fourth) one-inch bubbles. Twist the fifth about two-inch bubble. Twist the sixth about five-inch bubble (Pic 4).
Lock both ends of the chain of the last four (the third through the sixth) bubbles in one lock twist (Pic 5).
Twist the seventh about five-inch bubble. Twist the eighth about two-inch bubble (Pic 6).
Lock both ends of the chain of the last four (the fifth through the eighth) bubbles in one lock twist (Pic 7).
Twist the ninth about two-inch bubble. Twist the tenth about five-inch bubble (Pic 8).
Lock both ends of the chain of the last four (the seventh through the tenth) bubbles in one lock twist (Pic 9).
Twist the eleventh about five-inch bubble. Twist the twelfth about two-inch bubble (Pic 10.
Lock both ends of the chain of the last four (the ninth through the twelfth) bubbles in one lock twist. The rest of the balloon is the thirteenth bubble (Pic 11 through 13). We have made one link of the chain, or the top part of the tree (our tree has three parts). Cut off the thirteenth bubble and tie off the end.
Lock the nozzle of second (gray) balloon at the bottom, between blue bubbles, of the sculpture. Twist the first one-inch bubble. Twist the second one-inch bubble. Twist the third about two-inch bubble. Twist the fourth about six-inch bubble (Pic 14).
Lock the free end of the fourth gray bubble between the third and the fourth blue bubbles (Pic 15).
Twist the fifth about six-inch bubble. Twist the sixth about two-inch bubble (Pic 16).
Lock both ends of the chain of the last four (the third through the sixth) gray bubbles in one lock twist (Pic 17).
Twist the seventh about two-inch bubble. Twist the eighth about six-inch bubble (Pic 18).
Lock both ends of the chain of the last four (the fifth through the eighth) bubbles in one lock twist (Pic 19 and 20).
Twist the ninth about six-inch bubble. Twist the tenth about two-inch bubble (Pic 21).
Lock both ends of the chain of the last four (the seventh through the tenth) bubbles in one lock twist (Pic 22 through 26). Cut off the rest of the balloon (it is the eleventh bubble) and tie off the end. We have made the second part of the tree or the second link of the chain.
Again, the whole part made of the gray balloon is the link of the chain. In this fashion we can make as many links as we want to make the chain of any size. Now, I want to make the third part of the Christmas tree. We will not add any more links after that, so this part is slightly different from the second part. Lock the nozzle of the third (red) balloon at the bottom, between gray bubbles, of the sculpture. Twist the first one-inch bubble. Twist the second about two-inch bubble. Twist the third about six-inch bubble (Pic 27).
Lock the free end of the third red bubble between the first and the second gray bubbles (Pic 28).
Twist the fourth about six-inch bubble. Twist the fifth about two-inch bubble (Pic 29).
Lock both ends of the chain of the last four (the second through the fifth) bubbles in one lock twist (Pic 30).
The rest of the red balloon in the same fashion as we did the second part (gray balloon) of the sculpture (Pic 31 and 32).
Congratulations, we have made the Christmas tree using a chain of three balloons (Pic 33). On the picture below you can see the same sculpture made with three green balloons.
We can use the sculpture as it is. Or we can decorate it. For example we can attach a brown or green balloon at the bottom of the sculpture to represent the trunk of the tree (Pic 34 through 36).
We can attach chains of one-inch bubbles of different colors that represents light decorations (Pic 37 through 40).
We can decorate the top of the Christmas tree with a star, a flower, a candle and so on. In this example I use a star 5 points or flower (Pic 41).
As I have mentioned before, we can make the chain of any size. We can use the chain to make a pole (Pic 42) or an arch.
